Article first published as eBook Review: Bollywood Superstar by Justine Elyot on Blogcritics.
Bollywood Superstar is part of a series of Bollywood-themed novellas from Total-E-Bound. It tells the story of Jasmine, a young white girl living in Leicester in England, an area popular with Asians. She’s a Bollywood fanatic, and when the Bollywood Star talent show comes to England, she’s determined to enter. Her Mediterranean heritage means that she has the looks and skin tone to pull it off convincingly. The competition rules don’t state that white girls can’t enter, but thinking it’ll increase her chances, Jasmine convinces her boss, Krishnan, to pose as her brother. He’s not happy, but he goes along with it.
When the time for her audition rolls around, Jasmine totally wows the judges, including sexy screen star Ajay Amir, who quickly starts trying to ‘woo’ her with promises of fame, fortune, and Ajay himself. Jasmine finds it difficult to resist Ajay’s charms and puts a great deal at risk in order to be with him.
But is he everything that he seems, or is he just another arrogant star thinking he can have whatever he wants? Krishnan certainly seems to think so. But is he just looking out for Jasmine, or is there more to it than that?
Bollywood Superstar is another cracking read from Justine Elyot. The theme is unique, the story is fun, believable, incredibly sexy and romantic, and I stayed up late to finish it and find out what happened next! If you’re looking for a hot page turner that’s a little different, then you should definitely check out this book.
