Crossed Hearts has a very unusual topic – Scrabble. There isn’t much Scrabble in erotica, and yet Lisabet Sarai has taken it and made it very, very naughty.
Main character Jason Hofstadter has attended the Four States Annual Scrabble Tournament for the past six years. And each time, as well as playing Scrabble, he’s been playing at something much more erotic; sex.
As soon as he arrives for registration, Jason is on the lookout for his potential lay. So when he catches sight of an extremely handsome, bookish-looking guy, Jason decides to find out if he’s in with a chance.
After chatting for a while, Jason’s still not sure of Matt’s sexuality, but on heading out for a coffee, he discovers that Matt isn’t quite as shy as he first appears. Things quickly go from warm to searing hot as the men fall into bed together – and as their encounter continues, both men begin to wonder if this is going to be more than a fling.
I haven’t read very much gay erotica (a situation I plan to rectify!), but I thought this was brilliant. Crossed Hearts has a very individual storyline, two sexy characters and some incredibly hot sex – what’s not to like? If gay fiction is your bag, then add this to your list.
