This is a guest review by Lily Harlem.
I know this author’s voice well and she never fails to disappoint. This book is no exception and certainly deserved its place as number one drama best seller at All Romance e-Books upon its release.
To give you an idea of what is between the pages, without giving away the plot, it’s a novella length M/M story that combines gritty with sweet, creepy with sensual and horror with happiness. It was one of those books I read in one sitting, totally caught up in what was happening to Christian and Alfie. At times I wanted to cry and others I wanted to celebrate with them – and on top of that there were some seriously steamy scenes to heat me up to boiling point!
The story weaves a web around the past and the present, connecting the characters darkest secrets and deepest desires. There is sex and seduction and a meeting of souls and I completely adored Christian’s internal monologue, the way he battles to gain Alfie’s trust. His actions were so incomprehensible given the awfulness of his situation but perfectly believable and totally understandable.
All in all a great read if you appreciate a skillfully revealed plot, sharp, snappy dialogue and characters who are flawed, damaged yet ultimately loveable.
