Thrill of the Night is the first title I’ve read by Mina Carter. But if this is anything to go on, it certainly won’t be my last.
Main character Gwen is working as a diner waitress and her life is pretty quiet until a mysterious customer walks in. He’s young and as sexy as hell. Gwen scolds herself for even feeling that way about him, convinced she’s too old and out of his league. But it doesn’t work. Gwen thinks about him long after he’s left.
On closing up, Gwen heads back to her room, only to discover something which brings her past hurtling back. A bloody handprint. Further investigation flings Gwen back into the path of the mystery customer – Jasen – and it quickly becomes apparent they have more in common than they first believed. And the sexual chemistry is explosive to boot.
This is a fairly short read, but it packs a lot in. There’s very little preamble. You’re thrown into the action and very shortly afterwards, the sex. But both of these things are brilliant. The storyline is intriguing and the sex smoking. I definitely want to find out what happens next!
