Girls Bring the Fun by Elise Hepner
Sometimes I have my days where writing another sex scene with intricate emotions and consequences sounds like the last thing on the earth I want to do—no matter how much fun I have with it every other day of the week. Not a whole lot can rouse me out of this random state. Normally it comes on when I’ve had a bad review or simply an insecure week. But when the no sex wall springs up into my brain I have an excellent trick of sledgehammering it to smithereens.
I breakout my girls.
For some reason or another lesbians get me in the mood when nothing else can and maybe that says something about my inner character that I haven’t yet examined or maybe it’s because sometimes I don’t want to deal with the abrupt, roughness of a man. There’s something about a seductive, slinky woman using her subtlety to put the moves on another chick that speaks to my inner lazy writer. It’s smart, it’s sexy, and woman can have a whole other way of flirting before doing the deed.
Even while between the sheets, or on the floor, or in a hallway—two of which take place in my new novella, guess which—women can capture a simple teasing fire that sets my brain off into a million kinky directions when I can’t take one more alpha male pinning my heroine to the bed posts. Of course, being a woman helps me write these encounters. Hell, being in a woman’s headspace is always a welcome vacation because bothering my husband while he’s coding websites upstairs is sometimes like waking a sleeping bear. But, not being a man, sometimes these point of view questions have to be asked.
Which brings me back to the lovely ladies that traipse around inside my head waiting to have their time on the page. One of my favorite things about working with only women is because you’ve got to get creative—there are only so many ways to do things, you know?

With hetero smut sometimes I’m not inclined to get too down and dirty with sexual positioning depending on what the character’s dictate to me and what they’re comfortable with in the story. But lesbians push me to creative heights so it doesn’t turn into sucking, humping, and touching over and over again. You’ve got to be creative when handling too women to keep them excited and the readers. My general rule of thumb is if my characters aren’t completely engrossed neither I, nor my readers, will give a damn. And how can you not be engrossed with two intelligent, lovely ladies waiting and hoping to get to know each other inside and out?
Ah, my lesbians are a breath of fresh air.
