Erotica Isn’t Just About Sex by Erin Jamison
Despite popular thought, erotica isn’t just about sex. I mean its erotic after all which means that it involves some level of sensuality. Erotica involves all kinds of aspects from the psychological, emotional, exploration and yes…the act of sex.
When I read romance stories I’m looking for a connection between the characters. I’m vested in their hidden desires and passions. When I communicate that in a story, I have to describe the act but what is more important is to describe the connection. My goal, my job as the author is to be able to convey thoughts and emotions so that a reader can empathize and relate. I literally have to …. seduce my readers. That’s the truth.
I want my readers to fall in love with my characters. I want them to wish for more to the story, look forward to the next book, question what would happen in the next book. In order for all that to happen, I have to … hopefully … paint an incredible picture to start with. Looking at it objectively, erotica is an exploration in the analysis of human relations. In fictional stories, it’s where we as authors, get to play out the “what if” question.
Excerpt from Better Than 8 Fantasy
I had a clear view of the beach right from the bed and it was fabulous. I imagined it was beautiful at night. That made me think back to one of the last instant message exchanges that Seva and I had. I was asking him about his home country. I’d typed:
Me: How often do you go back to Puerto Rico? Do you have family there?
Sevastien: I do have family there. My parents and brother relocated to the States when I was five but my grandmother is still in Puerto Rico. She cooks the best Lechón. Can you cook baby?
Me: I have been known to cook a thing or two.
Sevastien: Hmmm. I can’t wait. You know what else I can’t wait to do? I can’t wait to lick you. Would you like that baby? Would you like me to lick that pretty kitty?
Me: Oh yeah. You know you got to put in work if I’m expected to fit all that you got going on south of the border.
Sevastien: You know. I really can’t imagine why someone hasn’t scooped you up. You are funny, so funny. And real. Like you know, you tell it kinda just … straight.
Me: I don’t know any other way to be than just me. You either like it or lump it as the saying goes.
Sevastien: Oh, I’d like to take it over and over and over and over again.
Me: Promises, promises. What would be your version of a perfect night for us?
Sevastien: Hmmm. OK. Picture this. We make dinner together. A bunch of stolen kisses, caresses, an occasional grope here and there. I would be the one doing the groping by the way.
Me: Don’t count on it.
Sevastien: When dinner is over, we go for a walk on the beach. The night is still warm and the moon is high. I undress you and we go for a swim together, naked. In the ocean. We kiss. Hot and heavy. You would look so hot. Skin glistening. Bathed in moonlight. Your nipples peeking just above the water. Perky and hard. I slide deep inside your body, fucking you slow. Building in momentum. Watching your face glow in the night. I want that. I want all of that.
