Claiming the Evil Dead
A Paranormal Erotic Romance
Half-demon Jessie Garrett is searching for an evil vampire that’s been preying upon children. She wants to claim the rogue vamp’s soul and send it to hell. To find the dead man walking she must partner with another bloodsucker, Drake, even though she doesn’t trust him. While Jessie works with Drake, she learns not all vampires are killers and discovers the cold-blooded vamp is a temptation too difficult to resist.
After the fiend abducts another child and Jessie has a near fatal experience with vampires, she turns to Jeremy, a demon she bumped into at a club, and makes a deal with him for his help. Drake disapproves, and Jessie soon finds herself wedged between two volatile creatures. When the chance comes to save the child’s life and claim the evil vamp’s soul, she must decide whom she can trust—a vampire who cools her feverish desires, or a demon hell-bent on seducing her.
Now that you’ve read the blurb, you have a general idea the book is about a half demon who is going after an evil soul to send it to hell. Not your typical romance, or erotic romance novel, is it?
No, and that’s good! I wanted to write something different. Readers like different. Right?
I’m a lover of paranormal, supernatural, dark and mysterious. I especially love vampires. Yet, I didn’t want a story just about vampires. There are plenty out there. So, I thought about what I could write and what I came up with was a half demon soul catcher. She thinks she’s destined to an eternity in hell and it will take someone to convince her otherwise. Who is that someone? Just your noble, sexy vampire looking to save human lives. Throw in the plot—there’s a bad vamp on the loose, add tons of conflict—external and internal, add romance and there it was. I had my main characters. The goal was easy, motivation clear, and I had plenty of conflict. I didn’t outline (and still don’t). Details fell into place, and once they did . . . I had Claiming the Evil Dead.
A little curious to know more? I hope you are. (Smile)
The second Soul Catcher novel is Catching an Evil Tail and is coming out 2/21/2011. The third Soul Catcher novel is Fighting Evil and is due out 3/21/2011. Both from Noble Romance Publishing.
Currently, I’m working on the 4th Soul Catcher novel and I have an Urban Fantasy novel with a romantic element I’m hoping to have published this year. I stick with what I love—paranormal / supernatural creatures, the fight of good versus evil, and try to come up with something different.
So tell me, do you like different romance stories? Or do you prefer the hunky man sweeping the woman off her feet all the time? (Not that the latter is a bad thing!) What makes a story different for you? Leave me a comment. I’d love to hear from you.
