Part of Decadent Publishing’s Beyond Fairytales line
*Based on the Grimm fairytale Fundevogel
When Linda and her adopted brother, Falk, return home from school to visit their critically ill father they never expect that someone is plotting against them. But shortly after coming to terms with their feelings for each other they find themselves running through the forest for their lives. Servants in the household have turned against them but they don’t know who is leading them or why. Could the strange visions Linda has been having hold the answers?
Falling for her Navy SEAL… Again by Clarissa Yip is a great second-chance romance. It tells the story of Navy SEAL Matt Hunt, who’s been injured on a mission so is currently on R&R. While at home, he bumps into Jenesi, who is both his best friend’s sister, and the girl he has the hots for. Last time they saw each other, something happened between them, and then Matt had to leave.
Jenesi, determined not to let Matt make a fool of her again, tries to keep him at arm’s length. But Matt’s equally determined to win her over. But is he just looking for another fling before he returns to duty, or something more long-term?
This is a great, well-written romance with some smouldering sex scenes. I hadn’t read anything by this author before, but based on this, I’ll definitely consider checking out more of her books. Recommended.
A Model Hero is book nine in the multi-author Calendar Men series. This standalone story is about BBW Gretchen Meyers. She’s a full-figured woman who is often surrounded by model “perfect” people, due to her mother’s job running a modelling agency. Unfortunately for Gretchen, her mother’s agency isn’t doing so well, and means her mother is currently crashing at her place. Eager to get her mother back on her feet and out of her house, Gretchen vows to help. All she needs to do is get one of her mother’s clients to agree to take on some jobs, and things will be moving in the right direction. But said client, Kyle Ramsey, isn’t so keen…
Can she persuade him? Or is her nagging, criticising mother going to be stuck in her apartment for ever more?
I enjoy a good BBW story, and A Model Hero is no exception. I really liked the main character, Gretchen, and found myself rooting for her throughout. The storyline is interesting and different, the writing engaging and the sex scenes scorching. If you’re looking for a great contemporary romance story with lashings of heat, check this out.
Burning Love is book eight in the Calendar Men series, and, as I’m sure you’ve guessed already, features a hunky firefighter. Unfortunately, Jude Mason has been injured at work and is currently on disability benefits… or so he thinks. He’s working hard to get his body back into the condition he needs it to be to pass the test that will allow him to go back to work, but it’s not easy. In the meantime, he’s worried about never being able to pass the tests, and what would happen if he couldn’t go back to the job he loves.
When he bumps into Michaela at a photo shoot, things seem to be looking up. There’s an attraction between them, for sure. But will the complications in their lives allow them to get it together? Perhaps they just need to try harder…
This was a great romantic read. I really liked the characters and the storyline. Cassandra’s work is always incredibly well-written, and her sex scenes hot, and this is no exception. Another great addition to the series, and one you should definitely pick up.
The Letter is the seventh book in the multi-author Calendar Men series. Each book is a standalone, but they’re linked by the central theme of a charity calendar. Mina Carter takes Mr. July, Rick Weeks. An ex-SAS serviceman, Rick’s career is now unfortunately over, due to injury. After months of recuperation, he now has another mission – deliver a letter to the girl of his friend, Billy, who was killed in action. When he turns up on Hattie’s doorstep, she’s shocked, but welcomes him into her home nonetheless.
After a while, though, it becomes apparent there’s a spark between the two of them. A spark they both try desperately to ignore out of respect for Billy. But will it win out, especially when it turns out that even from beyond the grave, Billy has a plan for them both?
This was another great read in the Calendar Men series. I love how they’re all so different, but have this link running throughout. I enjoy Mina’s writing, too, and would definitely recommend this sweet, heart-wrenching yet sexy story to fans of erotic romance.
