Under the Alpha’s Protection is one of Doris O’Connor’s earlier books, but she’s so prolific it’s impossible to keep up with her. This paranormal novella is a sexy, intriguing read from the very start. It tells the story of Nikita Ashton and Raoul Saint Germain. They’ve been friends for five years, but although they’re attracted to each other – not that they’ve admitted that to anyone but themselves – they’ve never acted on it. But if it wasn’t for the fact that Nikita steadfastly refuses to believe in anything remotely paranormal, Raoul’s wolf would have claimed her by now. When something happens to her, however, his wolf clamours to get out of its metaphorical cage and do something about it.
Managing to keep a grip on his wolf – just – Raoul simply gives Nikita the care and attention she needs to get over what happened to her. Then she slips up and let on that she knows he’s a Dom and that’s she’d be interested in finding out what it’s like to be his submissive. Will they finally act on their feelings for each other?
This is a fab little read from Doris O’Connor. She managed to pack a lot in to a relatively short word count – tension, action, scorching sex scenes… this book has it all. So if you’re looking for a hot paranormal read with BDSM in there too, you should definitely check this out.
