As an erotica author, I sometimes feel like I’m not just writing about sex. In my many scenes that I have written, I feel like I am in some ways a “sex therapist”! I have had quite a few people read my stories or my little excerpts that I have, and some have come back and said “My husband and I tried out what I read from your work, and let’s just say I didn’t get much sleep that night and my hips are still sore, two days later!” Honest to god I have had those kinds of responses. But even the good is followed up with the bad. Some of what I write is not for everyone. Just like my new story Mistress of Passion will probably not be a story for everyone, but I do know that it will be appreciated by most. Don’t get me wrong, I am not as self-centered as that may have sounded. As a matter of fact when I send my work off to let people read it I am fearful of what their reaction is going to be.
In Mistress of Passion, I think a lot of that fear comes through in Rachel. She is the calmer, laid back and logical type of character. Although her fear comes from her past, (I have not personally experienced her past though) she finds ways to help absolve herself of the consequences that made her future. Using BDSM as some sort of escape route, she quickly found out that being a Mistress was her calling. It was just how far she would take it that was the question.
Mistress of Passion is a story based off of the BDSM “lifestyle”. As I said in many of my other posts and interviews, even though I use the term lifestyle, I use it very lightly. While aspects of BDSM are used in most couple’s relationships, it just depends on the severity of what and how BDSM is used. Just like in Dominic’s case.
Dominic was out of options and out of time. Being the big shot lawyer that he was, he was not only paid in cash but he was also paid, from his clients, in the form of drugs and alcohol. On his way to his own burial, Dominic raised above his own self pity and self hatred enough to find another vice to sate his needs. It came in the form of a petite, latex wearing, and whip swinging female.
There are a lot of people who think BDSM is nothing but nasty, hardcore, “I don’t want to be tied down and blind folded while you have your way with me” kind of people, but in all reality, personally, I think this world could benefit from a little BDSM in every bedroom. Not only do you learn your own self control, but, you are given a chance to learn about your partner in ways you never thought were possible.
