Firstly Lucy, I love your website – fun and exciting. Thanks for inviting me to write a guest blog.
Having only recently been able to dedicate all my time to writing, I have to say I absolutely love it, and choosing to write erotic romance with a touch of danger, has turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have had so much fun, part of me wishes I’d taken the plunge years ago!
Having reached the top of my game as Finance Director for a very successful company, and going through the arduous business of selling that company, I decided to take the money and drive my Porsche Panamera into the sunset. I was then able to focus on my writing full time.
Why erotic fiction? Because….I enjoyed Fifty Shades of Grey, followed by Confessions of a Sex Addict, Dark Fantasies and many more, I just knew that I could create the same sense of excitement, tension and pleasure.
Characters and plot take on a life of their own in my imagination and I type the images from my mind into the story on my laptop, my fingers quickening as the scene becomes more heated. And when the spark of a new idea starts to burn inside me, I have to respond. If I’m lunching with girlfriends I’ll up and leave the table excusing myself on the basis that I have a sex scene to write. My husband has come home to uncooked suppers because I was struck with inspiration half way through peeling a carrot! I’ve even sat scrawling sex scenes in secret while my family enjoyed a wholesome Christmas afternoon of games and films around me.
My passion for my characters in my first story consumed me for months. I shocked close friends and family when I told them what I was doing – they thought I was bonkers.
And I was. I would wake in the night and sneak downstairs to write another chapter, to amend a particular scene or to research part of my plot.
I remember writing one particular scene and getting very excited as my guy had just given his girl an erotic, sensual experience in his gym and then promptly handed her a box of ropes and cuffs etc. When she questioned him about it, he replied, “I liked it, I liked to be … hurt.” Wow! I had not expected him to say that and I scribbled furiously and continued down the path that he led me! If anyone had said your characters could surprise you I would have been skeptical but now I know how good it can be when they do!
As I was getting great feedback from people I had asked to read the book for me, including complete strangers, I became determined to get my book edited and published, independently if I had to.
I really enjoy reading erotic romance – it makes me feel good. I love doing the research for my own writing and having fun with my husband when we check a few moves out – you know, just to make sure it can be done!
I love description, to try to help the reader to see what I can see, feel what I feel and to lose themselves in my book. After all isn’t that why we read fiction?
My genre is erotic romance with danger. I like to be descriptive and explicit, leaving only a little to the imagination, but using words to invoke the feelings my characters experience into the minds of my readers. As I am well into my second book and have an outline for a third story, I realise I also like to have shame, hurt and happy endings.
I write because I want to and love to. I will write where the fancy takes me – home, coffee shop, and even waiting rooms. I’ll also write when the fancy takes me. I often wake in the early hours and go downstairs. Plots in my head have to be noted, scenes written and research carried out – I love all of it. The editing process, not so much!
I love going to the gym, cycling, skiing and reading. I also love fast cars, good wines and the male species in general!

KEEPING YOU
At the age of 30 Lawrence Bane has been celibate for three years. What drove him to such a lifestyle after what seems to have been a very active sex life? As a naïve 23 year old virgin, what can Suzy Harper offer him? Why is he unable to commit long term to the girl he seems to have fallen deeply in love with? Why does he have to leave?
In a story about a man who likes to be hurt, a woman who matures and resolves to fight for her man, there is romance, erotica and danger.

Extract:
She mounted his body, facing him this time, and slowly, holding his hair in her hand, she rubbed her breasts firmly over his mouth, letting him lick at her and taste her body. Then she shimmied forward, with her legs pushing lightly against his neck, and pressed her thong-covered pussy on his mouth. He pulled at the soft cotton, trying to get his tongue around the material to taste her. He had never been teased in this way before, and he was in ecstasy. He pulled at the rope around his wrists, and felt a burning sensation, slight enough to be highly stimulating. He tugged at the thong with his teeth to free her of it. She lifted herself off him, with a smile that betrayed her desire to have him.
