How did you start writing erotica?
I started writing romance as a form of escapism from the pressures of my day job and I think I was attracted to that particular genre due to the happy endings that it tends to bring. I found reading and writing this variety of story was a soothing antidote to the pressures of career stress. In terms of the erotic element, I didn’t really consider myself an erotica writer during this process. My stories are romances and I found myself preferring to portray the love scenes on the page rather than using a fade to black approach. I think this is because I felt doing this enhanced the connection between the reader and the characters and heightened empathy for the characters’ emotions.

An Interview with C. G. Sturges (@georgesturges @goddessfish) #giveaway
How long have you been writing?
I have been writing my whole life—over 50 years. The first piece that I ever wrote and sent to a Hip Hop Magazine was published. I wrote an opinion column about Tupac Shakur’s death. The publisher wrote me a note that said: “Writing is your sword. You will never win at life until you use the sword that God gave you to fight with.” I started writing articles for magazines. I made quite a bit of money to supplement my income. I also received a fair amount of rejection—but I quickly learned that I was submitting my work to the wrong audience. Several magazines noted on their rejection slip that my writing style was too risqué.

How did you start writing erotica?
My ex-husband, who also happens to be a dear friend, inspired me to write Sage, and he’d get excited when I’d finish a chapter and read it aloud, especially when I included arousing plots. Eventually, I came to enjoy the intimate and sensual experience of writing erotica as much as the act itself.

How did you start writing erotica?
I like reading it. I’m very sexual by nature. When I became of the age to be sexually aware the Internet did not exist. I was limited to magazines like Penthouse Forum, which was presented as letters from readers but were obviously erotic tales purposely written. The stories were sexy, but the majority were written from a man’s point of view. I have no doubt that some of the stories that were said to be written by women were written by men. Writing was easy for me and I just knew that I could write better than most of the books I was reading. I toyed with it for quite a while, always wanting to write a book, but it wasn’t until later in life that I had a chance to make that a reality.

What’s your favourite published work of yours and why?
I think my favourite book would be Dragon’s Lair. It introduced me into the MC genre, which I love, and it’s still a readers favourite.
