The Vampire, The Witch & The Werewolf … and then some
Are you a serial monogamist? How about a serial writer? When I started writing my erotic paranormal series The Vampire, The Witch & The Werewolf, the intent wasn’t for a now six-book series. These complex characters tend to work their magic, and it’s grown.
Reviews of my first book mentioned some loose ends, questions that were not answered. One main “hole” was who is Lily’s father. Rather than being secretive about such issues, it was more of a case that I didn’t know the answer. As the writer, and ultimate creator, that may sound a bit bizarre. Could I have done in-depth character studies? Ah, sure. But, I actually found the discovery process of learning these bits of information more enjoyable.
Part of the intent of the sequels was to fill in some of these missing areas, and still others came at the direction of the characters themselves. As I was finishing up the first novel, suddenly I realized that Trevor – the werewolf character – had a sister, Silver, and very soon she’d come into his world.
The current novella, Mirabella’s Mardi Gras Ménage, came out the same way. All three characters have been “seen” in the series beforehand, but never in this dynamic – and I won’t give more away than that.
As a reader, I enjoy books in a series. While I read for the main character, a part of my heart goes out to those secondary – friends and foes – who vie for their own happily ever after.
At the moment, I have one more book planned in this series. After that? We’ll see where it goes.
Mirabella’s Mardi Gras Ménage
Constantly under the watchful eye of her Voodoo priestess aunt, Mirabella longs to break free during the events of Mardi Gras. Escapades draw her into the arms of Marguerite, a fiery redhead with a passion for life, and Nick, a familiar vampire who’s haunted by his transformation and past.
What starts as a new experience – a Mardi Gras Ménage – soon turns deadly, and none of their lives will ever be the same.
