DARK DESIRES, an imprint of DARK HOLLOWS PRESS, seeks manuscripts for its new Gothic romance line, scheduled to debut in winter 2014. Both novellas and novels ranging from 15,000-60,000 words will be considered. Stories should contain strong Gothic elements as well as believable romantic relationships and well-integrated erotic scenes.  Heat levels may vary from spicy to overtly explicit and may involve pairings and/or multiple partners of any gender and preference as long as all participants are of legal age and consenting.

Gothic elements may include vampires, werewolves, ghosts, witches and warlocks, and are generally set in castles, creaky Victorian houses, or other gloomy places. Time periods may vary from medieval to contemporary (or even futuristic if done properly and in keeping with Gothic tradition). Authors should display originality and an ability to blend traditional Gothic elements with unique, modern storytelling techniques. Plots will generally contain a touch of mystery and suspense, though we are not looking for overt horror or gore. All submissions must be edited for grammar, spelling, and punctuation and should be double-spaced in a standard 12-point font. A one-page synopsis should be submitted along with the full manuscript as an attachment in RTF.
