BDSM is hot – and I don’t just mean that it turns me on (though it certainly does!) Erotic fiction featuring elements of dominance and submission has always been popular with a certain readership (myself included). Lately, though, it seems everyone wants to read about kink. Of course, the “Fifty Shades of Gray Phenomenon” will no doubt further increase the market for BDSM books.

Amber Malloy Interviews Her Character, Eden Morgan (@authambermalloy)
Hi everyone its Amber Malloy and I’m crazy busy baking for the holiday season. I haven’t been able to do a whole lot of PR for Spies R Us, my new action adventure novel. It’s about a married mother of two who has to leave her family for three years. Fortunately for us, my main character—sexy spy Eden Morgan—has offered to come over for an interview while I bake, isn’t she the best? (I had to trade her a Snickers cheesecake to do it, but who’s complaining?) While I mix the ingredients for four dozen red velvet cupcakes, Eden will answer my questions.

The Thrill of the Forbidden by Megan Morgan (@morgan_romance)
I write in several genres, erotica/erotic romance being one of them. When I was a young writer I insisted on writing ‘serious’ fiction, and even though the idea of love and sex appealed to me and often leaked into my stories, I didn’t want to write smut. The very idea! I eventually dabbled in fan fiction, and that was where I discovered I liked to write steamy prose. When I tried my hand at original erotic fiction—and enjoyed it—my whole attitude about the genre changed.
I like writing about love, relationships, and definitely, sex. It takes a certain kind of courage to write out juicy detailed scenes and put them up for public consumption. I know that every time I read an erotic story, the author was at least a little nervous about how their fantasy would be received. Writing is a very personal act, and writing about sex even more so. We’re all trying to titillate each other and we don’t want to fall short or worse, turn someone off.
