If you could go on holiday to any beach in the world where would you go? 

Bondi Beach in Australia. I fear watching all those Bondi life guard shows, not to mention Home and Away have kind of built up my expectations of it too much though! Still, I would absolutely love to go, even though I’ll probably fry to a crisp in the heat.

 

What’s your favourite beach memory? 

Walking along the promenade in Ostend, looking out over the vastness of the sea ahead and wondering what was on the other side. Spotting boats. Eating Boules de Berlin while sitting in the sand. The quintessential Benelux beach experience, if you will.

If you could go on holiday to any beach in the world where would you go?

I’d love to go somewhere tropical, like the Bahamas. Also, Spain.

 

What’s your favourite beach memory?

The first time I saw the ocean, in Florida, as a child. I remember being amazed by it and thinking it looked like it went on forever past the horizon. I was awestruck by the size of it.

If you could go on holiday to any beach in the world where would you go?

I live in the south west of England near some amazing beaches, and know that if I were away from them, I’d want to go back. But if I were to go abroad, I’d probably choose the Florida west coast as I had some very happy times there as a child.

 

What’s your favourite beach memory?

Just being on a beach creates a memorable experience. Every time I visit with my family it’s wonderful, but I have special memories of beachside meals and watching the sun set over the ocean. Looking out to sea always puts things in perspective. Although I only live a few minutes’ drive from the coast, I don’t live directly on it, but we once hired a cottage right beside the sea near Land’s End, and listening to the constant low roar of the Atlantic as I went to sleep at night was really special.

If you could go on holiday in any beach in the world where would you go?

I’m a great fan of British beaches, often more unspoilt and more beautiful than anything you’ll find on the Med. I like the beaches around Pembrokeshire, but perhaps Portmerion in Wales, as I love the architecture of the village and I’m a great fan of the 60s cult tv programme ‘The Prisoner’, which was filmed there. I’ve done the thing of running across the sands imagining I’m being chased by a giant rubber ball!

 

What is your favourite beach memory?

Most of my favourite memories are either as a child or with my children, so nothing sexy I’m afraid! One year the kids built a sandcastle with a massive wall around it hoping to prevent the tide washing it away. They stood in the castle waving their spades at the sea like demented Neptunes commanding the tide to stop. All in vain of course! Once they realised, they took to joining in the savage demolition of the castle as the tide did its inevitable work. It was very funny to watch.

If you could go on holiday to any beach in the world where would you go? 

I am originally from Hawaii, which has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.  Still, it is a fantasy of mine to visit the beaches of Phuket, Thailand, or to scuba dive through Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

 

What’s your favourite beach memory? 

I don’t really have a memory of this, but it’s one of my mom’s favorite stories.  When we were little, my mother would take me and my brother to the beach on the island of Kaua’I to play.  She would always have cheese and apple slices with her for our snacks.  One day, when I was maybe two years old, I wandered right into the water with a slice of apple in one hand and a piece of cheese in the other.  My brother, who saw that I was completely submerged, got excited and cried to my mom.  She was as calm as could be, and told him to go to me and grab me so that my head was above water.  He actually dragged me out of the water, and I had no idea what was going on. All I knew was that I now had applesauce in one hand and cheese whiz in the other hand because I refused to let go of my snack.

If you could go on holiday to any beach in the world where would you go? 

I would quite like to check out some of the California beaches, just because they are so mythologised and I’ve never actually been there. In my head they would be a kind of melange of Jim Steinman soundtrack and Lost-Boys-era Keifer Sutherland on a motorbike at sunset.

 

What’s your favourite beach memory? 

The week I spent at Hedonism II in Jamaica a few years back. To be more specific, there was an incident which involved putting a lilo down to stop sand getting in unwanted places, a moonlit night and the sound  of the waves and… Yes, honest. Most of the week was like that. There was misbehaviour in the pool, misbehaviour in the middle of the sea while snorkelling (ever had someone give you a handjob in 20 feet of water? Unnerving but fun) and that’s not to mention all the things that happened in assorted bedrooms.
