A book from Lily Harlem, who writes super-hot stories, called X-Rated? Well, it certainly got my attention! It tells the tale of a married couple – Polly and Lucan – who have gotten into a rut with their sex life – so much so that Polly has taken to using sex toys and watching porn to get off while her husband’s not around.

Their rut is obliterated when Lucan walks in and catches Polly. She’s mortified – thinking that Lucan will find her disgusting, want nothing to do with her, maybe even demand a divorce. But it turns out to be just the wake-up call they both need. I don’t want to say too much more and give it away, but let’s just say the wake-up call certainly shakes things up, and a couple that undoubtedly love each other, but have just let things get stale connect in new and incredibly hot ways.

The nature of the storyline means this is a very sex-heavy story, and, as the title suggests, is incredibly graphic. Somehow, though, Ms Harlem manages to work in plenty of good stuff about the couple’s relationship and its development, too, meaning it still has the feel of an erotic romance. Overall, if you’re looking for a scorching, well-written tale about a married couple discovering and rediscovering themselves, and each other, you should definitely check out this novella.
