Funny how things work out. The first chapter of my new novella, The Eyes of Bast, started life as a disguised promo post for an adult toy vendor.
A marketing person contacted me by email, asking if I’d be willing write a blog post about their shop and their products. In return, they offered me a gift certificate which I could either use myself or offer as a prize to my readers.
At first I demurred. I don’t like blogs that feel like commercials. (I even feel that way about posts that market my own books!) On the other hand, I was sure that a sex toy gift voucher would be an attractive prize, for at least some of my readers.

Coming Home Again For The First Time – On Rewriting and Rereleasing
I’ve been here before.
Not just in terms of a release, but in the terms of a re-release. Not just in terms of a re-release, but in a concept I felt the need to revisit and perfect.
I’m not sure about other authors, but for me, the work is never done. The worlds I create are living entities that evolve and reveal new features of themselves the longer I know them. People will ask me questions about characters for which I have no answers, not necessarily because I haven’t thought about it, but because the character hasn’t told me yet. Any time I try to force an answer, it doesn’t go well, so I’ve stopped trying. The other day, at my Facebook release party, I was asked where, when, and by who Dante, the hero from Lost Wages of Sin, was turned. I didn’t have an answer, because Dante hasn’t decided to this date to share too much of that experience with me.

I often get asked about the shift from the dominant billionaire series to the paranormal romance series. It’s a great question and to me, it’s simply about enjoying my job. When I first started writing By His Command, I knew it was going to be ten books. I loved creating the dominant billionaire, Jonathan Black, and the beautiful Isabella Grace. Once I finished the series, I wanted to dive into something else. The idea for Full Moon Mercy came to me one night while brainstorming ideas. I have always been a junkie for paranormal romance books and I LOVE LOVE LOVE bikers and their wild lives.
So I figured, why not mix them together?

Bridling His Vampire is a short story in the bestselling Highland Vampire series from Ellora’s Cave.
The events in the story took place in 1766, between Desire in Tartan (1759) and Rakes in Tartan (1816). It’s better enjoyed in the context of the series; however, it’s written as a stand-alone.
What’s it about, you ask?

One of the things people often ask me is how did I come up with the ideas for my books? My first answer is my imagination. While this is true, it doesn’t explain everything. We don’t exist in a void. We’re constantly influenced by our environment. People we know play a role, but so do our experiences and our day-to-day activities. We read, travel, watch movies and generally live. Everything that touches us leaves its mark.
So my true answer is that life fuels my imagination and anything that sparks a new idea gets written down on whatever I have handy—a napkin, envelope, even my hand. They’re then added to my notebook of book ideas which I rely on when I’m plotting.
