During the second week of my two week blog tour to promote my new book, ‘Alice in Fetishland’ I’m discussing some of the diverse themes related to the book.

I want to use my blog today to discuss the place of watersports in erotic writing.  Now, I’m conscious all publishers I’ve come across have this as a taboo subject.  I also understand that often this is as much down to the distributors as the publishers and, well, if nobody’s going to distribute your book you’re a bit scuppered.   I enjoy writing watersports scenes!  They can be fun, dirty or intense, however you want to play them.  But I’ve always ended up having to cut them out of my stories, as I did from my original draft of ‘Adventures in Fetishland’, which had a couple of them in.

The Road Trip from Hell by K D Grace

One rule of travel that I now live by whenever possible is do NOT do a road trip with family. It can only end in tears, and believe me, I speak from experience. Mind you there are a few exceptions. My sister is great fun to travel with, as long as she has her trusty flask of coffee and as long as you keep the map away from her. She can’t find her way out of a paper bag with a map. The other exception is my husband, whom I LOVE to travel with, but he’s my family by choice not by chance, so I’m not entirely sure that counts.

Cooking Up Trouble by Elizabeth Coldwell

Writers are always being told they should write what they know. The idea is that setting a story in a place that’s very familiar to them, or giving a character a profession they might have worked in, will give the story more authenticity, and cut down on their research. Well, my story in the Secret Library collection, Traded Innocence, deals with the relationship between the two stars of a Saturday morning TV show, and while I’ve never been a presenter, I’ve appeared on quite a few programmes in my time, which has given me a glimpse into the not-so-glamorous world behind the scenes. And though the heroine, Morgan Jones, may be many things I’m not – Welsh, with long, dark hair and voluptuous curves – she loves to bake, as do I. There’s something very soothing about mixing, measuring and beating, and it gives me the opportunity to think about plot points while I’m whipping up a batch of scones.

Guest Blog: Constance Munday

I loved writing ‘Silk Stockings’ for this fabulous new collection, ‘The Secret Library,’ and Michael and Imogen were such lovely characters to develop.  My fans will probably find this a bit of a departure from my other work.  For some years now I’ve been writing mainly erotic fiction.  However, I’ve now come out of the closet under my romantic fiction name of Constance Munday, having been pressed over the last year or so to come clean, so to speak – find my voice and tell everyone that yes, I’m a romantic novelist too.  I do hope my loyal fan base will enjoy this new me, although don’t worry I’m still writing, sizzling hot pure erotica too.
