Reaper’s Legacy is book two in Joanna Wylde’s Reapers Motorcycle Club series. The first book, Reaper’s Property, was a runaway success, and based on this second volume, it was definitely not a one-off. I’ve already pre-ordered the third book!
This novel tells the story of Sophie Williams, a young woman who, eight years ago, gave her virginity to Zach Barrett. At the time, she thought she was in love, that he was The One. Sadly, it wasn’t the case, and although he ended up being a total moron, he did give her one incredibly valuable gift – her son, Noah. Now, Sophie and Noah are muddling along as best they can. A struggling single mother, Sophie is working hard to keep a roof over her son’s head, shoes on his feet and food in his mouth. But it’s not easy. One night, a babysitter proves to be less than reliable, and before Sophie knows it, Noah’s uncle, Ruger, is back in her life, as mean and muscled as ever.
He may be tough and tattooed, but Ruger adores Noah and is the only male role model the boy has. Fiercely protective, Ruger sees what a mess Sophie is in and insists she and Noah come and live with him. Sophie resists, because there’s no way she wants Noah growing up close to a dangerous motorcycle gang. But Ruger leaves her with no choice, and soon, as part of Sophie and Noah’s lives becomes much better and simpler, another part of Sophie’s becomes ridiculously complicated. Because, in spite of how much she hates the Reapers and everything they stand for, she’s got the hots for Ruger, and has had for years. Thrown together, will the two of them manage to get over their differences and make a stable home for Noah, or are they just setting themselves up for failure?
I loved this book. It’s raw, gritty, and incredibly sexy. Joanna Wylde’s writing, characters and settings are skilfully penned, making for serious page-turners. The whole thing felt very real and very dangerous and I couldn’t stop reading. The sexual tension is off the charts, bubbling beneath the surface constantly, and when it spills over… well… prepare to get seriously hot under the collar. Sexy, dark, realistic and yet romantic, Reaper’s Legacy is a book I’d definitely recommend to erotic romance fans, especially if they like their reads gritty.
