She pulled his bearded face up to look at him. The core of her froze the second she realized his eyes weren’t the eyes she remembered. “What has happened?”

“You’re not supposed to be here. They’re trying to keep you from seeing—remembering too much of this place.” He dropped his starry gaze to her mouth and sealed his lips to hers in the same raw fervent desire they’d always shared.
