I’m gaining a deep appreciation for shorter works of erotic romances, those little gems of lust, love and life. Never thought I’d admit this, but when I look for a read, I’m more apt to pick up “shorter,” something I can finish in one or two sittings.
Time is a big factor…the older I get, the less time there seems for relaxing with a good book. I know…freaky, right? *shakes head*
Well, after coming to this realization about myself – I clarified the “perfect” erotic romance short story…what I’m looking for in enjoyment, entertainment, and satisfaction.
Enjoyment: The characters must be developed enough that I’m able to get an inside feel of them and connect with their life and times. I’ll definitely think about them after the story is over…and maybe even think, “I wish there was more to their story.”
Entertainment: A story / plot line that will draw me in fast and carry me along for the entire ride – I want to be fully vested in this story as an escape to relaxation, living vicariously through fictional characters and associating with their story.
Satisfaction: Oh, yes, this little morsel of “satisfaction” – being sated until my next fix *LOL* Erotic romance, doors wide open, allows me to sense (all senses if possible) the evolving passion and sexual context of the relationship. Is it plausible and authentically, does it resonate? Also, it must end with a “happy for now” or a “happily ever after.”
I write what I like to read…it took a bit of honing-in on exactly what parts were most important, but now that I have a good handle on it…watch out: )
