Here’s an author interview with Anita Philmar. Take it away, Anita…
How did you start writing erotica?
My first erotic romance was with The Wild Rose Press. They were looking for submissions and I thought I’d give it a try. I found I loved the genre and can’t give it up.
What’s your favorite published work of yours and why?
My first book/series, Black Dragon Blood is one of my favorite because it was my first venture into writing not only erotica but an off-world setting and cultures.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
So many places like books, TV, and simply life.
Where’s your favorite place to write?
I have a bedroom, which has been converted into my office. It has my desk and everything I need to get to work.
Do your nearest and dearest know what you do, and if so, what was their reaction when they found out?
Yes, and I believe they are proud of my accomplishments. Not that they read it, but they do recommend it to their friends.
What was your ideal career when you were a child?
Pretender that’s why this is the perfect job for me.
What’s the best writing tip you’ve ever been given?
Just put your butt in the chair and write. Somedays, it is easy. Somedays, it isn’t you just do it.
If you get writer’s block when you’re writing, how do you get around it?
I just keep going or take a short break. If that doesn’t work, I call up a writer friend and we brainstorm the plot.
What’s your favorite genre within erotica and why?
Western historical, I love going back in time and living in a different era. I grew up in Texas, which is where most of my stories take place. It provides me a platform to tell about the history of my home state and to explore some erotic fun in the old west.
What are you working on at the moment?
I have a new series coming out called “Ancient Warrior Prophecy.” I’m very excited about it because it is about real life science with a twist. The first book is about how scientist found Neanderthal DNA is the human genome. But I twist it and say that this has given these individual special abilities and they have created a secret group. The first book “The Warrior in Me” has just come out so I’m busy plotting and writing the next book.
