Here’s an author interview with Elizabeth Morgan.
Take it away, Elizabeth…
- How did you start writing erotica?
I actually didn’t plan on writing erotic romances.
When I was in college studying Musical Theatre I began writing scripts. Writing had always been one of my hobbies and I use to write poetry. My friend read one of my scripts and mentioned that there was way too much detail in it, which was a shame since it wouldn’t be left out. So, she said I should try writing a book and . . . I did.
I mainly read paranormal romances – I’m a big romantic – so, I guess writing romance (with any heat level) just came naturally, and made the most sense. I love letting characters fall in love.
- What’s your favourite published work of yours and why?
I don’t actually have a favourite out of the four. I like all of my stories for a different reason.
Cranberry Blood, which is my newest release I love for the irony and craziness of it all. Plus I have a bit of a crush on the hero, Brendan. 😛
She-Wolf, well, I just love Owen and Clare and how they are with each other. I love the tension and the banter, and how they can’t keep their hands off each other.
The Collector, well, I believe in angels and spirituality and I loved playing with the idea of the afterlife and putting what I believe in to an actual world. If that makes sense?
Razel Dazzle is a modern re-telling of Rapunzel, and I had a lot of fun shifting that story into the modelling industry.
- What erotic authors do you enjoy reading?
So many: Lara Adrian, Meljean Brook, Marie Treanor, Moira Rogers, Jill Myles, Gena Showalter, Jodi Redford, Vivi Andrews, Ella Jade, Ingrid Michaels, Chris Lange . . . Just to name a few. The list continues to grow each time I pick up my kindle.
- Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Music, images, conversations, and sometimes billboards or advertisements; words sometimes jump out at me when I look at them. A lot of my ideas have come to me in dreams, though. I just haven’t gotten around to writing half of them. 😛
- Do you have any unusual writing rituals?
Sadly, no. I’m afraid I’m a little boring in that sense. I just sit down, read the last couple of pages I was working on, and then continue.
- Where’s your favourite place to write?
I live in a small terrace cottage, and there isn’t a lot of space, so my computer is actually in my bedroom. So, I do my writing in my room. I’m sure there is some irony in that . . . 😛
- Who is your favourite character from one of your stories and why?
I like Heather Ryan who is the heroine of my new release, Cranberry Blood. She has one messed up crazy life and some serious issues, and she deals with them by using a lot of sarcasm and silver.
Hey, when stuff gets crazy you gotta laugh about it, right? Otherwise you would cry.
- Do your nearest and dearest know what you do, and if so, what was their reaction when they found out?
Yes and they’re fine with it. Or, they may not know the full extent of what I write, but at the end of the day it’s my choice.
- What was your ideal career when you were a child?
I wanted to be an actress ever since I saw Dirty Dancing. I don’t know why I didn’t want to be a dancer, that would have made more sense really, but I had seen Patrick Swayze in Ghost. So, I think I got that by being an actress I could be anyone I wanted to be and learn tons of things in the progress, which I found cool. I could live a million lives in just one.
- How do you get yourself in the mood to write?
Most of the time I wake up in the mood – ;-P – and sometimes I just need to read over the last couple of pages of my recent WIP to get there.
- What’s the best writing tip you’ve ever been given?
Just write. You can always delete it if you’ve wrote complete rubbish.
- If you get writer’s block when you’re writing, how do you get around it?
I bash my head against the wall a few times and if that doesn’t do the trick I take a break from that particular project and look at another. Concentrating on something new usually helps.
- If you could bring one of your characters to life, which one would it be and why?
Brendan! Honestly, because I want to help licks his wounds . . . ;-D
- Which author, erotic or otherwise would you love to meet and why?
I would pretty much love to meet every author I have listed on my shelf, or on facebook. Just because it would be cool to get advice off them and ask how they get in the mood to write, and how they come up with such amazing stories. I would be cool to hang out with people who aren’t going to look at me like I’m crazy when I discuss book ideas and such. Ha.
- What’s your favourite genre within erotica and why?
Paranormal; the possibilities are limitless. And there is something sexy about characters who have darker sides, primal urges, and the power to take pleasure to a whole new level.
- What are you working on at the moment?
I’m currently working on an erotic paranormal short story about a Nixie, which is a type of mermaid. After that I will begin working on the second book in The Blood Series, followed by the second book in The Overseers Series. I’m keeping busy. 🙂
- What’s the biggest writing challenge you’ve ever taken on? Did you succeed?
I wouldn’t say I’ve had any big challenges, yet. Actually writing a book was my first challenge, and I did succeed.
Hopefully any challenge that comes my way, I will succeed, because I will damn well try my best.
- What’s your biggest writing achievement? Why?
Writing a book. That may sound crazy, but when I first set out to write one I wasn’t sure if I would be able to. After that it was writing a story good enough to be accepted and published, thankfully I have – and will hopefully continue to do so. 🙂

Bio:
Elizabeth started life wanting to be an actress because she loved entertaining people. She enjoyed nothing more than being able to make people laugh and to help distract them from reality for a few hours.
She studied Musical Theatre in college, but during her second year, her mind started to overflow with story ideas, so she began writing plays. Slowly, over the following three years, she was writing more and more, channeling every ounce of her imagination into the written word.
Now here she is, years later, hiding away like a hermit in her little cottage in Cheshire, England, writing like crazy and loving every minute of it.
