Here’s an author interview with Nancy Corrigan. Take it away, Nancy…
- How did you start writing erotica?
By accident, actually. My first book, Unexpected Find, is a feline paranormal romance. When I sat down to write it, I knew it would have sex in it, but I didn’t realize how much of the relationship developed in the bedroom. The love making turned explicit and became essential to the HEA. I tried taming it but I was doing my characters an injustice by leaving it out so I gave up and let my characters have their wicked way.
- What’s your favourite published work of yours and why?
Favorite Obsession. I wrote this story specifically to give Josh a HEA. I fell in love with him as a secondary character in Unexpected Find. He’s a human male in love female shifter he can never claim. There are genetic and social barriers in his way, but love finds a way, of course.
- What erotic authors do you enjoy reading?
I adore Laurann Dohner and Christine Feehan.
- Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Everywhere! I’ve been inspired by trips to the museum, the movies, myths, science, people I know… The list goes on and on. I’m always jotting ideas down.
- Do you have any unusual writing rituals?
No, but sound-blocking headphones are a necessity when my family is home.
- Where’s your favourite place to write?
I recently converted half of my family room into a mini-office. I have my desk, elliptical and sectional within reach.
- Who is your favourite character from one of your stories and why?
Vader, a wolf shifter introduced in Beautiful Mistake. He’s funny, hot and tortured. I can’t wait to give him a HEA. He definitely deserves one as he keeps missing out on love.
- Do your nearest and dearest know what you do, and if so, what was their reaction when they found out?
My family and friends know what I write. Some are intrigued and love to hear about my WIPs. Others just don’t want to discuss the “naughtiness” but do offer their support. I have lost a few friends but that’s to be expected. Can’t please everyone.
- What was your ideal career when you were a child?
I wanted to be a doctor, but graduated as a chemist. Writing became a passion after my children were born and once I started, I couldn’t stop. I’m addicted to storytelling now.
- How do you get yourself in the mood to write?
I take a few minutes to plan my next scenes. Usually, the excitement of “seeing” the story take shape in my head is enough to get me in the mood.
- What’s the best writing tip you’ve ever been given?
To never stop writing.
- If you get writer’s block, how do you get around it?
I’ll reread what I’ve written and refer to my loose plot outline to see where I’ve gotten off-track. Usually it’s something not right with either my story progression or character development. If that doesn’t work, sleep. I often wake with scene and story ideas!
- If you could bring one of your characters to life, which one would it be and why?
Calan from Hunter Betrayed. I LOVE his character. He’s such a mix between wicked alpha and noble warrior that he easily makes me swoon. 🙂
- Which author, erotic or otherwise would you love to meet and why?
Anne Rice. Her vampire books were the reason I fell in love with paranormal romance. She’s also a wonderful person who I’d love to take with about just about anything-books, politics, ethics and life!
- What’s your favourite genre within erotica and why?
Paranormal. I adore alpha men with animalistic qualities, but I’ve recently ventured into writing contemporary and I must admit there’s something to be said about hot, confident human males too.
- What are you working on at the moment?
I’m splitting my time between Hunter Forsaken (tentative title for Wild Hunt book 2) and my second contemporary novel. I also have plot outlines for book 2 of Elemental Desire, an erotic fantasy/paranormal series. Book 1 of this series, Mist Unveiled, will be releasing later this year.
- What’s the biggest writing challenge you’ve ever taken on? Did you succeed?
So far my biggest challenge has been to switch genres. Going from paranormal to contemporary has been interesting but so exciting. I’m loving the world I created and can’t wait to tell the stories of four brothers featured in it. (tentative series title is Sander’s Valley).
- What’s your biggest writing achievement? Why?
My biggest writing achievement was in getting published. I’m grateful for the support and belief Ellora’s Cave has given me. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.

Excerpt:
God, she wanted him packed inside her body. The orgasm he’d ripped from her had stoked her desire. The release, though mind-blowing, had only set her needs to simmer. She wanted more, everything he could give her. She craved the thick length of his cock pounding into her core. Her sheath clenched on air, the emptiness reminding her of what she’d turned her back on when she’d fled his prison.
Unable to resist any longer, she skimmed her fingers down the center of her body, starting at her upper chest, between her breasts to her belly button. The slow stroke quickened her breath. Nearly every night, she’d brought herself to orgasm by fantasizing about her ghost man. She had pictured what she’d thought his body looked like, imagined how his kiss would feel and how his voice in her ear as he made love to her would sound. Nothing had prepared her for the man she’d encountered when she’d walked into his cell.
He oozed sexuality. Everything about him appealed to her—his hard body, the harshness of his features and the gravelly growl punctuating his words. His scent, however, sent her up in flames. She’d always loved the smell of a campfire. Calan captured the soothing and tantalizing fragrance and infused it with life.
She conjured his real image. A wash of arousal coated the lips of her sex. The thump to her clit demanded his touch and the quivering of her inner muscles begged for his hard length to convulse around. She slid her fingers to the smooth skin of her sex. A moan escaped with the first caress along the edge of her cleft. The amount of wetness awaiting her shocked her. It shouldn’t have. She’d hovered on the edge of a spontaneous orgasm all night.
Another slow trace of her opening and a whimper fell from her mouth. She squirmed and fought the urge to thrust her fingers into her core. With the way she responded whenever Calan had starred in her fantasies, she knew it wouldn’t take long to careen into ecstasy. She didn’t want to rush into the one-sided bliss. After learning what her phantom lover looked like, she wanted to pretend he was here, touching her.

First of all, I LOVE the cover!!! (I’m one of those awful people who, at least partially, judges a book by its cover. Lol!)
But also, I thought the interview was very well done. It’s unfortunate that you lost some friends because of what you choose to write, but then maybe they weren’t truly “friends” to begin with!
