Misbehaving is a Cosmo Red-Hot Read, written by Tiffany Reisz of Original Sinners fame. It’s a novella, which is also a retelling of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. Being somewhat clueless when it comes to the bard, I just read this novella and took it on its own merit.
It tells the story of Beatriz, a woman who has two jobs – one of which is a sex blogger. She reviews books and toys and effectively gets paid to get off. Understandably, she loves her job. But when her boss gives her a last minute assignment when she’s meant to be having a few days off for her beloved sister’s wedding, she’s not happy. Especially when she discovers the assignment is to review a sex position manual. It wouldn’t be so difficult, except she doesn’t have anyone to get into those sex positions with!
On arriving for the wedding, however, Beatriz discovers that Ben, who was her “one who got away” at college is also attending. He’s single, and as drop-dead gorgeous as ever. Beatriz decides to forget the fact that five years ago he turned down her blatant offer of sex and see if he wants to help her with the book review. It seems Ben has wised up.
This was a great quick read from Tiffany Reisz. As I said, I’m just taking this novella on its own merits as a book, and I enjoyed it. It was sexy and funny, the characters were great and the sex was smoking hot. I love a good second chance story, and as the characters of Beatriz and Ben never really got over each other, it was really nice to see them being presented with that chance. But if you want to know whether they take it, you’ll have to read the book. Fun, sexy and well-written, Misbehaving is an erotic romance novella I’d recommend for anyone looking to steam up their eReader.

In The Flesh is book five of The Ladies’ Sewing Circle series, but it doesn’t matter if you haven’t read any of the others (though I recommend that you do), as this book will still make perfect sense.
It tells the story of Beatrice Weatherly, who has been named a scarlet woman because she was tricked into posing for some nude photographs. Now polite society believes her unmarriageable. Add that to the state of her and her brother’s finances, and things aren’t looking too good for the Weatherlys.
At a public occasion, though, it looks as though their luck is set to change. Edmund Ellsworth Ritchie has been quite taken with Beatrice ever since he saw those infamous cabinet cards, and when he meets her in the flesh, his interest becomes obsession. He makes a proposal that will see the Weatherly finances fixed, but will further besmirch her name. Beatrice decides that since she is already seen as a fallen woman, she may as well behave like one.
So the fun begins. Beatrice is not as experienced with men as the sexy photos would have everyone believe, so she visits the House of Madame Chamfleur to learn how to appease Edmund’s appetite. Life becomes incredibly exciting for Beatrice, until a dark secret in her lover’s past threatens everything they have built together.
Portia Da Costa is one of my favourite erotic romance authors, and has been for a long time. In The Flesh isn’t my favourite of her books (that title goes to In Too Deep), but I enjoyed it very much. The historical part of it felt very real and was immersive, and I thought the storyline and the heat level were apt for that era. The writing, as always, was superb and I watched the characters’ journeys with interest, and found the ending satisfying. Definitely one to add to your bookshelves if you enjoy historical erotic romance.

I really enjoyed the first book in this trilogy, The Siren, so I was looking forward to The Angel very much. And I definitely wasn’t disappointed – if anything, this book was better!
Although infamous erotica author Nora Sutherlin is still featured plenty in this book, she’s not really the main focus. Her mysterious lover, Søren, is. This is the book where we get to find out why the tall sexy Alexander Skarsgard lookalike is the way he is. Why he entered the priesthood, why he’s a sadist and much more.
Søren’s under scrutiny – he’s up for a major promotion and suddenly, the press have come sniffing around him, threatening to expose his secrets and ultimately bring about his total ruin, never mind scuppering his chances at promotion. For this reason, Nora goes to spend the summer in upstate New York with Griffin Fiske, because if she’s not there, then no one can see them together.
Griffin is more than happy to have Nora stay, particularly when he catches sight of Michael, who has travelled with her – also to get out of the journalist’s way and try to protect his secrets and dark past. The three of them expect a summer of sex and training – Michael’s training, that is. He’s a submissive and Nora is to train him properly and help him to truly understand his desires.
Nora is incredibly fond of both Michael – whom she calls Angel – and Griffin, but she can’t help her mind wandering. To Søren, and to someone else from her past whom she can’t quite let go of. In the meantime, Michael is making more discoveries of his own, which both terrify him and arouse him beyond belief.
If I hadn’t needed to sleep, I would have finished this book in less than 24 hours – it was that absorbing. I loved finding out more about the characters I already knew, but I also enjoyed the new characters and their respective journeys. The Angel is definitely not a read for the faint-hearted (it certainly had me flinching at certain points), but for all its deep, dark scenes of BDSM, secrets and heartache, it’s also a beautiful book about love, kindness, redemption and forgiveness. A truly engaging read which now has me hankering for the final book in the trilogy. Tiffany Reisz, you sure know how to tell a story!
