A Bar in Paris is an erotic short romance by Imogene Nix. It tells the story of Davina Chandler, a woman who heads to Paris for the weekend by herself for her 30th birthday. She’s bored of being alone, of not having any sex life, so she intends to pick up a guy for commitment-free fun between the sheets.
When she heads to a bar and meets Johnathon, a tall, charming Englishman, she believes she’s hit the jackpot. He’s totally gorgeous, nice and fun, and he seems to be attracted to her, too. The sparks between them ignite, and they head back to his hotel room for that commitment-free sex, or so Davina thinks.
They spend more than just one night together, and she quickly begins to worry that things are developing into more than a one-night stand, a fling. There’s no way she wants to get her heart involved in this, as she only has a long weekend in Paris, and she’ll never see Johnathon again after that… or will she?
This is a fun short story. The characterisation, particularly for such a short piece, is good. The storyline is interesting, the dialogue witty, and the sex is super hot. There’s not an awful lot of setting the scene, sadly, as I’m a fan of Paris and would have liked more of this. This story could have been set pretty much anywhere in the world and it wouldn’t have made a difference to the storyline.
Having said that, though, I did enjoy this short story. I most definitely wanted more, however, and feel it could have been extended to novella length, and there’s certainly room for a sequel here. I’m not going to say any more and give the game away, but I’d recommend this to those that enjoy a quick, hot romance read, but it’ll leave you wanting more.
