Tamar RisingTamar Rising tells the story of Tamar Steele – a medium for a crew of paranormal investigators. Things are looking good for Tamar – her relationship with her boyfriend, Jason, is going really well and work is picking up, as well as an increase in press attention.

But things start to go downhill after Scare Seekers, a paranormal entertainment show, wants to film an episode with Tamar and her crew. What starts out as a good boost in publicity ends up with Tamar’s friend and colleague being possessed by a dangerous ghost. Worse, Tamar’s not sure she can help her friend. Then, however, she discovers a way of increasing her powers – much to the delight of Jason…

This is a short erotic romance read from Tanith Davenport, and one I enjoyed. I like the characters, the world-building and the storyline. It’s sexy, sassy and fun. I look forward to more books featuring these characters.

I decided to try something new when writing “Tamar Rising”. Yes, that’s right, I can hear you all collapsing with shock from here, but it’s true. I chose to write a sex scene that was nearly all dialogue.

Admittedly it got changed up a little in the editing, but it’s still in there.

For me, sex scenes always have to have a point in the plot. It doesn’t have to be a major point – it can be just for characterisation if need be – but there has to be a reason for them beyond “because it’s hot”. And this particular scene had a very specific point, because Tamar and Jason had a definite reason for having sex – they’ve discovered Tamar’s ability as a medium is boosted by intimacy, and Tamar is about to perform an exorcism.
