I’ve read all of Joanna Wylde’s Reapers books so far, and I have to say this is my least favourite of the series. This book tells the story of Painter and Melanie – detailing how they met and kept in touch while Painter was in prison, and what happens when he gets out.
Although I don’t have anything against the main characters in this story, I just didn’t feel myself buying their relationship as much as I have the others in this series. Perhaps it’s because the timeline jumped around a little, or maybe I just didn’t “feel” the chemistry between them. I can’t quite put my finger on it – I just wasn’t as invested.
Overall, though, it’s still a well-written book, and one you should definitely read if you’ve read the others in the series, but in my opinion it’s the weakest one so far. Hopefully the next one will be better.
