This week is the exciting launch of my newest book, Go-Go Boys of Club 21: The Complete Series! This book is the compilation of the five short stories / novellas that comprise the series, bringing them together to form a complete whole. Two of the individual stories, Bump and Grind and Sins of Lust, were bestsellers on All Romance eBooks, and all five have received excellent ratings and reviews.
When I started writing this series, all I really knew was that it would feature the sex lives of go-go boys in New York City’s hottest gay club. From that premise, I developed the four main characters (go-go boys Liam, Lance, and Ken, and former porn star Ryan) and a general plot arc. However, as often happens, once I started writing, the characters and the world took on lives of their own.
One minor character, in particular, rose in prominence and basically demanded that I explore his point of view and develop a sub-story for him. Older bartender Dan was originally intended to fuel a series of sex encounters with the go-go boys that would be largely meaningless, but super sexy. However, as I got to know Dan a little better, it became obvious that I needed to allow the reader into his head and heart. Instead of just being a minor plot point, Dan quickly grew to become a major character, entering into a relationship with go-go boy Ken, fuelling a whole new sub-plot arc for the two men.
Following that new path in the story led to an unexpected journey with all of the characters, adding depth and meaning to scenes that would’ve lacked otherwise.
Excerpt: Go-Go Boys of Club 21: The Complete Series
We’re the go-go boys of Club 21. We dance, we fuel fantasies, and we give ourselves to the beat. We bump, we grind, and before each shift we have a jerk off competition; the order in which we come determines who gets the most desirable dance platform.
Normally, I shoot first, earning me the prime spot by the DJ. Ken usually comes shortly after me; he claims I get him excited. Lance, our new guy, he’s always last and ends up with the crappy spot by the pool tables.
