JoAnne Kenrick tells the story of Mr January, Chris Ruter. He’s living back in his native Australia after a break up. He plans to celebrate Australia Day by letting the beer flow and spending time with his family and friends. All looks set to be fun and games, until Janine Red, Chris’ ex, turns up unexpectedly. She claims to be there for work – her advertising agency, Red, wants to take some shots on Chris’ plantation – but Chris isn’t so sure. He thinks maybe she’s just there to torment him, because it’s sure working.
In spite of himself, Chris still finds Janine attractive. But can he trust her? The more time they spend together, the more the pair wonder if they can make things work. But with Chris firmly rooted back in Australia, and Janine determined to make a success of her career back in New York – how can things possibly work out?
This novella-length work was a fun read, and a great introduction to the series. I enjoyed the storyline, the characters and the setting. The secondary characters were a hoot, too. I was intrigued throughout to find out how things were going to develop, and I wasn’t disappointed. This is a great erotic romance read, one I’d recommend to those that enjoy shorter works.
