Visiting a place you’ve never been

One of the thrilling things I get to do on a regular basis as an author is to do things I’ve never done and visit places I’ve never been. It’s always thrilling and involves some serious procrastination work, I mean research. I’m always a fan of procrasti—I mean research.

In Sharing Nicely I got to visit a posh boutique hotel in Paris overlooking the Eiffel Tower and to spend a long time in Venice. I researched water taxis and gondolas. The Bridge of Sighs and high class hotels and that was just a start. Kerry and Greg are invited to the biggest and best Masquerade party in all Venice while they’re staying there during Carnevale. I had to find costumes for them and intricate masks. I was lost in the world of Venetian tailoring for a long while I can tell you.

The process of rewriting a classic

When I decided to take on The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, I knew it would be a challenge – and it was, in so many ways.

Before I could even begin writing, I needed to re-read the book – no great hardship as it’s always been one of my favourites – and plan out spots where intimate moments could be inserted, paying attention to the surroundings in each instance. There are a number of places where private conversations are held between lovers and illicit kisses are stolen, but more intense encounters might prove to be unfeasible; a kiss in a corridor, for instance, became a passionate fumble in an alcove, but even for that to happen I had to get rid of a loitering father and an eagle-eyed mother. Other times my heroine worries about being caught by the servants. It all needed to be considered.

eBook Review: Lucky For Him by Rachel Randall

Lucky For Him has also been released by Total-E-Bound as part of their Sharing the Billionaire anthology. This story by Rachel Randall tells the tale of Rob Ray, an entrepreneur eager to dive into his next challenge – whatever it takes. He’s heard that Argentinian billionaire Renzo Vega has invested in a secret project known only as ‘Lucky.’

When Vega refuses to speak with him, Rob takes matters into his own hands and stows away on his luxury yacht. He’s quickly discovered, and is then in the hands of the most charismatic man he’s ever met. Vega’s right-hand woman is in fact, the elusive ‘Lucky,’ an ex-hacker who’s not only sexy, but knows how to push all of Rob’s buttons.

Vega and Lucky want Rob to be their on-board entertainment. He’s given little choice, but if he’s honest with himself, the charismatic businessman and the sexy geek turn him on beyond belief. Soon, the three of them are engaged in a hot ménage, and Rob thinks all of his birthdays and Christmasses have come at once. But, sex aside, will he get his hands on what he was looking for, his next project, or was his risk-taking a waste of time? You’ll just have to read the book and find out!

I’ve read several of Rachel Randall’s books in the past and enjoyed them. This one was no exception. The storyline and setting in Lucky For Him are intriguing, as are the characters. The whole tale is sultry, sexy, and leaves you eager to find out what happens next. The sex is smoking hot and leaves you in no doubt as to why Rob Ray asks for more. My only criticism of this book is that I felt the ending was a little abrupt. I wanted more of the characters, more of their story. Perhaps Ms. Randall will oblige and write a sequel.

eBook Review: On His Terms by Sierra Cartwright

I very much enjoyed book one in the Mastered series, With This Collar, so I looked forward to checking out book two. On His Terms is the story of Chelsea Barton, an ambitious PR and event planner with a successful company. But, due to her ambition, she wants to make it even more successful. She’s determined to land the business of Evan C, up and coming rock star. But he won’t even give her a second glance. He’s also a Dom, so Chelsea suspects that getting trained as a submissive will give her an edge that may help her snag his custom.

Chelsea knows from her contacts that Alexander Monahan is the best man to help train her. She’s horrendous at submission, but it’s a must for her to move forward. So she approaches Master Alexander with her plan. He resists at first, but Chelsea is persistent and he eventually relents. From there on in, Chelsea is subjected to things that had never even crossed her mind. Not a natural submissive, she finds many of the things Master Alexander commands her to do humiliating, but her stubborn streak carries her through. After a while, things aren’t so bad. She finds submitting much easier. And it soon becomes apparent that there’s a good reason for that.

On His Terms was another good read from Sierra Cartwright. I like her writing style, it really draws you into the storyline and into the minds of the characters, which makes her books very engaging. Both the plot and the characters in this book are intriguing and interesting, making for a real page-turner. With a few surprises thrown in along the way, book two of the Mastered series comes to a very satisfying conclusion, and one that will definitely make BDSM erotic romance fans eager to read book three. Recommended.
